Along the Princeton to Summerlands road in BC, sits this entranceway to a homestead which caught my eye whilst passing on numerous visits to the area. This particular sunny fall day i shot this photo and put in the vaults for a rainy day to paint. A year later i tackled it in the studio, Aiming to create a real sense of depth i kept the BG trees blurred and very loose, whilst the foreground fence received layer upon layer of dry brush to create that sun baked old wood feel to the fence. This has to be one of my favourites so far! Painted on Arches archival quality 640 gsm heavyweight cold pressed watercolour paper and using Daniel Smith Professional quality watercolour paints. Image size 14 x 20 inches framed size 20 x 30 inches.
