Its been a while since my last Blog post, but i sure have been busy! Still no sign of Animation work which is not good but on the up side, plenty of time to immersive myself in my Art career. My overall plan is to get back to Series Directing as soon as something comes up and simultaneously continue to build upon what i have started this last year.
After my 1 month stint in the pop up space in Steveston Post office and Museum, so many people were asking where they could see my work after the month was over. This led me to thinking i should finally create my own gallery space.
My downstairs family room was feeling neglected, during Covid it was my office and painting room, but this led to the majority of my time holed up downstairs, no natural light, freezing in the winter but super cool in the summer. I moved my painting space and work desk  upstairs where the light is great and i can paint where my better half watches tv in the evenings, this works great for the winter, but the summer means i am outside painting. So the space just wasn't being used and so i decide to empty it and start afresh.
After a good cleaning i painting all the walls and ceiling flat white...3 coats!
Installed new LED daylight lighting!
Put whitewashed wooden tracks along all walls to hang paintings.
After a few weeks the inside studio space was looking fresh and great, paintings were up, fridge for cold water bottles, bookcase and home decor touches for a homely look, black curtains on the patio doors for that clean look, plan chest number 1 and 2 were installed  for dual purposes of storing paper, matte board, glass etc and for a framing surface and the other for paintings and a cutting surface.
So you would think thats it right? oh no....the wife and I agreed we didnt want the public having to come to the front door and enter the gallery through the house (a 19 yr old living downstairs is not a pretty site) so rear garden access was the best choice......oh boy! that meant 2 huge tasks....

The space under the rear deck and the back yard/garden....full of potential but sorely neglected.

Ok , like we say in England, in for a penny in for a pound! 2 months later i had transformed both outdoor spaces into into a very pleasant and welcoming outdoor gallery and garden. I wont bore you with the details but suffice to say, my back and arms ached considerably!

My latest addition is the addition of  8- 2x7 ft white display grids, four on each side in the garden means an extra 32 paintings can be hung and i have my own grids for upcoming Art shows.
So all in all, i haven't counted the full amount yet, but we are looking at at least 150 framed paintings that can be displayed, I'm pretty happy with that.

The finishing touches were a large sign on my garden gate, surrounded by my collection of weird and wonderful driftwood pieces all along and over the fence and gate, a renewed interest in cutting the rear grassed section and some hardy geraniums planted outside to combat the weeds.

Well , that takes us up to about the end of April this year, my next blog post will be about what i've been up to during the last 4 months!
