On a sunny March day i finally visited the Lonsdale quay on the North Shore of Vancouver, the shipyards are a very popular tourist spot with great panoramic views of Down town Vancouver. At the far end of the shipyards was the Seaspan Shipping companies loading area on the water, huge monolithic structures, giant tankers and cranes made for an interesting composition and caught my eye. As i was painting a Cormorant landed on the upright post and stayed for ages with his wings spread to catch the warmth of the sun, hence the title of Seaspan Wingspan. Original watercolour 11 x 14 inches on Arches 300lb rough paper.
